The grand ballroom of the Skylark Hotel was awash in shades of forest green and gold. The charity ball had been arranged to benefit a local children's hospital, and so a large percentage of the proceeds from the door tickets and bar would be donated to renovate the facility. A two-story Christmas tree towered over the buffet tables of festive finger foods and chocolate fountain, and people had placed unwrapped toys under the limbs to be delivered to the hospital the next day. Champagne flowed freely. There were two stages for the live jazz musicians that would play all night. Santa's scantily clad elves wandered about the room with trays of shrimp and caviar. A dance floor took up the center of the space underneath a gleaming chandelier and there were beautifully decorated round tables on the edges of the room.

The ticket price was manageable, and a few tickets had gone out free for radio promotions and the like.

Luckily for the undead, the decor did not include wall-to-wall mirrors, though there were a few on the high ceiling.

In various corners, Vegas performance artists entertained to ooohs and aaahs. For instance, there was a man eating a gleaming sword in the corner.

"Never managed to make it to an orgy, which is rare for Hollywood, but I didn't exactly make it to the upper social circles when I was there."

Katherine's cautioning her about feeding on drug users was nice of her, since they'd just met, but Theresa restricted her dining on junkies to coke users. If only because the second-hand rush reminded her of how it had felt to be alive. If Katherine didn't partake, she might decide she'd been missing out if she ever did try it.

"So it's just business that brings you here?" she queried. "You don't seem like the 'save the children' type."

"It's Christmas season in Vegas, man... You know the kind of options sitting out, tonight?"

Thumbing over shoulder for added emphasis, the swing of inertia given to Katherine's head had her gaze brought swiftly into line with a flash of... Oh... And the vampiress darkly smiled.

"Actually, strike that. I got an option, right here."

Moving forward, Katherine brought a hand subtly to the side of Theresa's waist, lowering her voice and closing mouth subtly to ear. "There's a bar... It's under this haunted house, 'Ragnarok'. I meet you there, some time and I'll fill you in on this, maybe..."

But her gaze was fixed over the other vampire's shoulder. The direction of why she had come here. A reason which had her now slipping away into the crowd.

Being who she was, Theresa thought the waist-grab was a come on, but when Katherine said something about Ragnarok she just listened. Given the other vampire's general demeanor, it sounded like risky business. But maybe it was interesting, so her curiosity was piqued.

She was about to say she might show up, but Katherine seemed to have spotted her erstwhile quarry, and all Theresa could manage was a wave. Which the taller brunette probably didn't even catch. The diminutive vampire shook her head. She'd met some weird types both before and after she died, but that brief conversation rated pretty high on the Weird-o- Meter.

She went in search of another drink. At least the champagne was reasonably priced. Liquor really did make everything better.
