From the journal of Antha St. Clare

January 2, 1925

Well, it took more than eighteen hours, but Frederick and I have finally welcomed our daughter into the world. She was born on New Year's Day, which I consider a good sign. It's a time of renewal and new beginnings, a perfect time to bring a new life into our home.

We've decided to name her Julianna, after the Italian saint. Since she's to be our last, Frederick agreed that I may be in charge of her education when she's old enough to attend school. That means the best tutors, the best prep schools, and finally the best university. I would like to see her become a Watcher, as I have been and my mother was before me. It's a proud tradition, one I hope she passes on to her future daughter.

It was a difficult pregnancy. My doctor kept me on bed rest for most of it, which meant my duties had to be re-assigned. I hope to return to the field once Julianna is older. I'll have to keep her close if I want to groom her, but I don't intend to shirk my calling. She'll know the secret of the work one day, know it and accept her place in the Council's ranks.

I look forward to helping her discover her path.
