But she was afraid of what he'd see in her eyes if he really looked at her. She was probably worrying him. She knew she'd sounded like a wreck over the phone, and she probably looked like hell. A far cry from the put-together woman he was acquainted with.
"I'm sorry if I called too late," she said, her voice a little robotic. "I thought about stopping by your apartment, but I know I can't just show up whenever I feel like it. Not without asking first."
The cup of tea was warm between her palms. Nathan was still standing. He was wearing chinos and a dark button-down shirt. As a winter, the muted colors suited his complexion. The Watcher indicated the other chair at the table with a nod of her head. "We...we should talk."
