The information would come later, Valerie felt fine with that, reassured perhaps in some way knowing the woman had books of her own. In truth, the blonde had expected she would, all Watchers had a collection of sorts. It kept them in the loop with what things were and where they originated from. Naturally she’d been trained and studied what she could during those years but once set loose on the world she’d found out that those books weren’t going with her. She was, essentially, the brawn behind the brains. Although, that never deterred her in learning. She returned the smile Julianna wore, albeit more amused than anything else.
“I appreciate that, I try to keep my own notes but…” Valerie lifted a hand and waved it near her head, as if that explained everything. “You’ll know more about that kind of thing than I will, so thank you, for looking into it for me.” For a second the blonde wondered how long ago Julianna had become a watcher. The things she’d witnessed in her life. The knowledge she’d gathered. The girls she’d seen come and go. The possibility that she might even meet the blonde’s replacement once she… Expired.
Morbid thoughts were pushed aside as Valerie mulled over the questions. “Oh, well I… I think I manage alright. I tried to take classes that were a little more hands on so that I wouldn’t be stuck with mountains of reading and writing to do.” So it wouldn’t conflict quite as much with her nightly activities with things that wanted her dead. “Some of the scrap material from a few classes actually comes in handy for taking on patrol.” Personally she enjoyed what she could use to her advantage. Being creative helped to keep her alive, literally.
Did it surprise her that Julianna had her records? Not in the slightest, and she didn’t take it as prying either. The Council liked to be kept in the loop with progress, and what she, and the others, were up too. The problem was working out how to respond to the question of sleep and of health. If she confessed to how she felt would there be a mark against her name? A score to state that she might be going downhill? No, she wouldn’t worry herself sick over it, she’d explained the increase of demon activity.
“Honestly?” Valerie pressed her lips together, wrestled with her inner turmoil, then brought one hand up to rub the side of her face. “Once or twice I may have found myself sneaking off to the back of the library during lunch to take a power nap but it’s not because I’m losing my touch or getting older it’s just that I’ve been out longer. I’m trying to learn the streets and what areas are the worst.” She paused then to chew her lip, properly considering the next question. “Overall my health is fine. I don’t normally get hurt, if I do I heal quickly, my appetite is normal and so is my…” Libido? “Everything else.” She said quickly, and took a sip of water. Even if they hadn’t technically kissed, there were stirrings, she was young and healthy.
