Brian watched the couple clear out and turned back to the vampire. “Yeah. I can’t do anything about that.” He let out a sigh. Until then, he didn’t even realize he wasn’t breathing. He wondered if it was a weird reaction to standing so close to a man who didn’t do it.

“I’ll get out of your way,” he said.

He left the vampire standing beside the bar. Whatever happened, he couldn’t control, but at least he could sleep at night.
